Camp Sutlers

Minimize

Any 16th century army relied heavily on civilian providers of essential goods and services for many critical needs. These victualers or “sutlers” (a term which actually originated in the Lowe Countries as soetelaar) included brewers, merchants, crafts persons, cooks, laundresses, armourers and much more. At a School of the Renaissance Soldier event, sutlers are equally as important. Just like in period, at the Actions of the Lowe Countries they are following the camp to cater to the needs of our soldiers, and are a very important part of our program!
